MG Monthly UK Registrations

This thread is to discuss, and make guesses about, MG monthly registrations in the UK which are generally on the up - but how much?

I'm not the only fan of MGs who's not here as often as they used to be and I don't think we have the quorum any more to run a separate thread for each month, but if we have a thread with no month in the title, then anyone can start the ball rolling for subsequent months and update the summary of who has guessed what in their own post.

Think I'll stop the game for July now, a number has been leaked. Results tomorrow!
Well done spottycat seems you are the winner.

2411 is the number,
I think we wish spottycat were the winner, but we were all too optimistic, simcor the least so... simcor wins!

EDIT gnu had 2834, and I missed him. So, sorry gnu! it was actually you!
This month the market fell by 30% (chip supply?) but MG's 30% increase was enough to take it to almost 2% of the market as it sold nearly double as many cars as Renault. Of the 2021 competition, only Honda outsold MG.

YTD it seems MG's charge is slowing down but it might still catch Renault and even Citroën with results like these. Honda, Mazda and Suzuki could all beat the octagon, though Suzuki look strongest this month.

In a month where five BEVs were registered for every four diesels, I read that 50% of all MGs sold were EVs.

Oh I read an article after googling saying 4000 odd cars. Oops. What an unusual turn of events.
Oh it was MG india that the article I read after googling it said 4255 for July sales. Oops should have looked at the finer detail rather than headline.

Ignore me then! 🙄

Correction yes gnu was the winner as someone left him off the list.

yes and I happen to know that someone. I knew I was going on holiday (ding ding a dong for a holiday) so I missed that, sorry.
AUGUST 2021 GAME.

August 2020 was 1,010, July 2021 was 2,411.

It's the last month of 21 reg, 71 reg begins next week. We have heard that chip supply is significantly affecting UK production (down a third), but that a boat with over 2,000 MGs on board recently docked here.

I'll guess at a fall from July which is still a 90% increase on the previous year - 1,919..

As a side bet, I'll say that Renault will bounce back but that MG will beat Citroën again.
I'm going to curb my enthusiasm a little this month, but not too much, let's drop in a nice 2946.
We're bullish again this month. +90% is the low figure, SpottyCat is on +190%. If the competition have a 40% fall, even a 1/3 fall to about 700 could be an improved position!

In August 2020, MG sold less than Mazda, Fiat, Dacia, Suzuki (who seemed a major competitor), and Honda. I wasn't even tracking Citroën and Renault! so this year we might expect to beat all of those except maybe Honda and Renault.
