There is an in line fuse ,which feeds the starter relay In the manual it is listed as FUSE BOX SATELLITE ( p109) can someone tell me please which actual fuse is this I can then tace to see where the voltage is being lost to the starter solenoid Len

On wiring diagram pg 15.1, it says Fuse 1, 30A, in the under bonnet fuse box for the brown (N) wire. It also points to a 10A fuse on the white w/red tracer (WR) wire that goes to the ignition switch. The fuse is on the main fuse block, Fuse 19.

May I point you again on this thread: MG F/TF Fuse & Relay Listing

Where you will find exact picture where fuse number 19 is in the sattelite fuse box:

Starter relay - 5th pin out of the 8th terminal (MFRU output) and 4th and 6th pins of the 6 pin terminal (MFRU input) are unique to the starter solenoid relay. It shares 7th pin out the 8 pin terminal with the Lambda sensor relay.

Pin numbers from the cable entry side start at pin1 (top left) in the row closest to the terminals' 'catches'.

Do yourself a favour and use a voltmeter to identify the right pins/relay.

Just having a last hour ,before a break for Christmas I am correct in thinking the relay box,is the one marked YWB 100970 Ive checked the voltage on all 4 relays and there isnt 12 volts ,going to any of the relays with the ignition on. I can get voltages of 2 to 3 on some ,but on the top contacts on one of the relays there should be 12 volts, which when the relay is energised goes to the solenoid Len
Sorry its a bit blurred

YWB 100970 is the one. Note that the blue connector can come loose and so can the 6 pin connector to YWB 100970 as the wires leading to it are too short from the loom so forcing the connector to disconnect from YWB 100979 (I manufactured a link wire to ease the pressure).

I know this as I had to replace YWB 100970 recently. All the connectors behind the ECU are important as they connect to the starter, the fuel pump, lambda, the ambient ¨temp sensor (and therefore the engine fan) and the list goes on! Check the blue one is fully engaged (in fact check all of them, particularly those with thick brown wires).

See https://andrewrevill.co.uk/EU3MultiFunction.htm for a clearer explanation of the relay connections.

Bought a second meter off Ebay and that doesnt work Borrowed a friends and I have 12 volts on the top of the relays On the contact which when energised, will supply power to the pump and solenoid Getting somewhere at last with a meter that works. I can now rest for Christmas after I aks for a refund on the meter All the best to everyone HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Helo I hope you all had a merry Christmas and your stocking were full. Back to the MG F in the new year. I take it ,that as normal, the two wires which feed the actual relay coil one is the 12volt supply and the other goes to earth .Knowing modern cars, they sometimes have weird electrical connections Happy new year to all Len

Morning ,can someone please confirm that the top right relay ,is the fuel pump relay If it is,then the starter relay is energised as soon as the ignition is turned on the and the fuel pump relay is still off .Fortunately, Its only places like the forums, where these problems can be sorted by ,members who are clued up as I`m getting more and more confused Len
