Very festive, but whilst I do fall victim to some bling in the cockpit so many lights do make me wince.😲
Roobs is the fella that had starter for sale, but just check that all the terminals on your existing motor are clean and tight and a full battery.Im about to remove the starter which doesnt work Someone said in one of the messages ,they had a starter which they would sell How much do you want for it Len
The starter I have is for a TF LE500, if it is compatible you can have it for £60 (it's brand new and I paid £80) - drop me a message and we can sort something out for you. Like D4KGP says though, check your connections first as mine had a loose spade connector.

When I bought the car the starter wasnt working and I noticed, that the top nut and bolt was missing I can see why now as its a pig to get the nut on LenThanks I have the starter ou on the bench and it looks quite new When I connected it to the battery it runs fine. However when I got my wife to sit in the car and turn the ignition key to start ,there is no voltage reading on the spade terminal to the solenoid .Also, the alarm ig going off when the ignition is turned on with both doors are shut Len
Is there a fuse which is in line with the lead to the starter solenoid Im waiting for a circuit I need to check if there is any voltage on the ignition switch pin, which feeds the solenoid Plenty to do on this new project LenWhen I bought the car the starter wasnt working and I noticed, that the top nut and bolt was missing I can see why now as its a pig to get the nut on Len
I do have voltage on the main contacts to the starter ,but when the ign.key is turned, there is no power to the solenoid spade terminal. Is the starter relay, the one next to the ECU at the rear of the engine compartment .Am I correct in thinking the lead from the ignition switch when ign. is turned on,,goes to the relay, and the lead from the start contact on the lock also goes to a secondary contact on the relay So when the relay is energised by turning on the ign.then power can flow through the relay from the starter lead. Hope this makes sense LenYou should have battery voltage at the starter all the time, no matter if the car is running or not. The large brown wire (it might also be red) on the starter solenoid is always hot. If you do not have battery voltage at the starter, then it might be that the engine to body earth/ground is bad. This was the case on my wife's F and it caused many different starting issues: hard starting and low voltage at the starter.
Just looked on the net and there is a photo of an MG F and it shows the starter relay is in the near side corner of the rear boot But there is nothing there on mine !!!! The picture below is from the fuse & relay thread, and as mentioned by Julian, it shows that the starter relay is part of the Engine Mangement Relay Module, YWB100970, which is located on the backside of the panel that holds the ECU.Is the starter relay, the one next to the ECU at the rear of the engine compartment .
I do not know where you looked but that what you described is for MG TF not MG F.Just looked on the net and there is a photo of an MG F and it shows the starter relay is in the near side corner of the rear boot But there is nothing there on mine !!!! Len
The battery voltage is 12.35 volts so that`s ok Ignition lights up headlights work also , I ran the starter on the bench with the battery and it ran fine On the circuit the 12 volts pos goes to the starter relay, ,so I have to check its getting there I have taken starter relay outWhat is the battery voltage? - have you had the batt
