Some of those modded Metro's may not be to your taste visually but they are all cracking cars underneath and no other small car today can compete with the all round level on nippyness, refinement, economy and reliability (speaking from an owners perspective)
I agree with Deaney. Metro's are just for chavs. I just wouldn't spend the money and time on one when I could put it to better use on a another car. They do look good though and them modded mutha's can be fast, but all in all it's a young pimple faced chavvy car that gets the crap ragged out of it. You may be the exception.
People work with what they have available or what they are passionate about....

and they are anything but chavs that cant afford better cars, most of them are enthusiats that love their car and have spent 100's/1000's on it, there are more than a couple pushing 180+bhp.
there is even a guy on there that has 3+ really sweet metros that he restored/restoring to factory condish and he also has a lotus esprit, he is a top bloke.
i am a big fan of the metro and had one b4 my 214 and will definatly have another one in the future, great cars, i am yet to find anything else that gives the same stimulation while driving, alot of metro fans say it is an adiction and once you have got it there is no way you can lose it.
hence the reason it has a massive following.

i think the people who are calling them chav cars are just jealous caus they are faster than their cars and have bigger engines than them.
But at least there cars look better! 
Hmmmn, dunno bout Metro's. It looks ok from the front, but after that it looks like Rover ran out of ideas and money and just cobbled together the backs out anything they could find. TBH, i would rather have a Nova or a Corsa more than a Metro! Not knocking the work those ppl have put into there cars, just wouldnt do it myself!

Can be chavvy imo, the untastefuly modified 1.1's etc but for outright speed a 1.8vvc metro would be dificult to beat pound to power with such good power:weight, depends where your priorities are realy :2c:
I had a metro and I'm not a Chav.
Great little car, even though it's as slow as a sleeping snail, they are still good fun.
I didn't mod mine though, I put a sound system in it that was worth twice the value of the car.
I also think it looks better than any equivilant of it's time (Fiestas, Novas, AXs, 205s etc).
I think you shouldn't pass judgment until you have owned one. They're a great car for the money.

rover 100 shape still looks good to day IMO espescially in gta form. much better than them boxes you see now!!
