Meet the Miastang

One could argue that the Mazda Miata has become our generation's Pontiac Fiero. We've seen the Miata become the kit car du jour in the form of a BMW Z3 and Aston Martin, but this conversion may take the cake. Though we have dubbed this car the Miastang, it's real name is the M1Stang. Carscoop reports that the man behind this Miata-based Mustang replica is one Bill Carnes, who will take your Zoom Zoom roadster and approximately $12,999 plus tax in exchange for his strange concoction. Clearly, the entire body of the Miata save the windshield is replaced with all steel body panels that nicely mimic the Mustang of old. Unfortunately, the $13k base price doesn't include painting or updating the decidedly un-Mustang interior, but the conversion can be performed on any Miata from 1990-2005. Some may call it an abomination, but we think it's pretty amusing and actually a fairly faithful recreation.

Why oh why

They've come up with the Aston kit

The Italia kit

The E-type Kit

and even a Z3 kit (why you'd want to make it resemble something uglier, I don't know, perhaps just so you're justified in tacking 8 BMW badges on the exterior)

All of them do nothing but spoil the legendary handling and add ridiculous front and rear overhang and kill the proportions of the design.

The Aston and Z3 kits are awful.

Liam ,those ones you've posted WTF?!! They're terrible!

If the silver one was an MPV it probably wouldn't look out of place with a Seat badge

All but the GTM are Banham kit cars, going from the top you have:

Banham Speedster,
Banham Superbug,
Banham Bat and
Banham X21.

Most of those carry the original Metro angular dashboard over, except the Bat, which has quite a nice remodeled dashboard that looks more like something out of an Alfa Romeo than anything else.

Can't seem to find a picture of it though.

What's the point of the Z3 and Mustang ones? For what they charge for the kits, you could probably buy the real thing quite easily.

I can never understand that one either. I saw a 3 series on t'internet which had been converted to look like a Skyline

And it did look like one ,a really bad charved one. Why not just buy the real thing for less money?!!
