Mating a S2000 gearbox to a K-Series, more a "How?" than a "How to!"

Hi all,
Apologies if this shouldn't be here, but I reckon I've got the right place!
I'm wondering if anyone here knows of anybody who has tried to mate the Honda S2000 gearbox to a Rover K-series and may be able to offer advice or caution in doing this?
I've got an old kit car which already has a 1400cc K-Series and a type 9 gearbox, but fancy a bigger K-series and a close ratio gearbox... :bgrin:
I'd be grateful for any constructive hints/tips!
Ta!

guna say this is quite a hard task, plus not a good idea. the s2000 box is that short ratio plus its designed for 9000 rpm and 240 bhp.

better off building your own 5 speed rover box with shorted ratios, leaving 5th the same for motorway speeds.

To be honest, from further research I was beginning to think that the ratios may be rather too restrictive - it may have to back to the Ford boxes... :slap:

I would go with this option too. Probably only take a few days to strip down a gearbox, get some new gearwheels made up to the ratio's of your spec and then put it back together. Why dont you email powertrain, see if they have any hints?

Give BGH Geartech a call on 01580 714114. They specialise in modifying Type 9 gearboxes. I have an article from Retro Cars from October 2003 that details the specs and tuning options for the Type 9s and gives contacts to try. I can upload it to my site if you wish but it will be floating around the net somewhere

Cheers! I'll have a look around for that article!
