hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum so i thought i might share an experience i had last week.
Driving through town, i smelt electrical burning and saw smoke coming from the bonnet of my 120. turned out to be the main power cable had chafed through on the battery tray - started to get flames, the lot! the rac took it to a specialist and luckily only a 6'' section had burnt out so this was replaced and re-routed away from the tray. i was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as it seems that the cable had been routed incorrectly or is this standard?
by the way, if you see a trophy blue 120+ driving through helston, give a wave, its me!

I dread anything like that ever happening as it must be terrible having to stand there and watch a good car burn. . .

I saw a 5 year old VW Golf on the M25 totally engulfed in flames the other night. Not a pretty sight.

This was mentioned somewhere recently as being a problem on quite a few ZS120s so I had a look at mine and couldn't see where it could possibly get damaged so maybe some are just routed incorrectly

Mine runs behind and underneath the battery tray with nothing sharp to cut into it. It was free to move around though so now glued in place so it can't wear or rattle. Do you know which piece of metal had worn into yours?

yours sounds like its routed like mine was. it looked like the outboard edge of the tray causing the trouble. the cables now been extended and re-routed along the front edge of the wheel arch. its also been covered in a plastic sheath instead of the original insulation tape........
