Yes you could - that's what they are meant to do, transfer torque to the wheel with the most grip.
After all, the FWD Mk1 Escort RS Turbo's had LSD's fitted as standard and they only had about 130bhp.
Depends which make / type you go for, but one of the guys over on xpf has had a Quaife ATB fitted to his ZS180 which he uses for track days etc.
(Quaife's have gears in them not clutch plates)
