What do you mean by try?

Timing belts snapping are never good, more so in interference engines.

Id get it onto a garage asap as more than likely you will need new valves.
What happens is that the alternator belt goes and the debris from this makes the timing belt jump. It is a common problem on several cars.
Unfortunately, it will have resulted in a minimum of a set of bent valves and if you are unlucky it could be much worse. The head has to come off next to see what the extent of the damage is.

I would guess that a garage would charge you around £600 to replace the valves, belts, gaskets etc.
yeah wasnt sure as the recovery driver said he thinks theres a chance we may get away with a new belt being the only problem but unfortunately cant get it into garage untill tuesday, was thinking if it was worth trying to put a new timing belt in to see if it goes
Fitting a new belt will not result in a working engine, it could cause more damage.

Sorry, but I think the chances are pretty much zero. :(
I agree. Yet to see a K run when the belt has snapped or slipped more then a tooth.
