A lot of ciggy lighters dont work because they have never been used and the coil rusts out, in the base.

 

So can I get a replacement unit from somewhere?

Those ones from Halfords fit with a bit of persuation (you may have to file the hole a bit) or you can get oem ones off ebay.

I would check that it is getting a supply first before buying a new one though. As said, most likely the fuse.
