Good evening,
Having trouble getting a newly built rover k series engine started (first time after build) and going through all the obvious (or not so) with the ECU and it will still not fire up.
Checked all the other usual things, fuel getting there, sparking fine (on test function of ECU). Also tried several ECU maps and settings from various people and only pops and bangs
Noticed that that I could see flashes of combustion through the throttle bodies so thinking I may have somehow got the valve timing 180 degrees out,, although when building it the valve lift all seemed to check out ok, and no valves clattering or touching pistons etc when winding it over.(thankfully!)
The MSD coil fires on pairs of coils (1&4 / 2&3) so can only think that it is firing with the inlet valve open or you wouldn't see it.

If anyone has experience of timing up a K series would be great to hear from you, have no timing marks as vernier pulleys fitted and need to double check the transferred marks (do not have original pulleys with marks)

Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

Have you got the cams wheels on the correct dowels behind the bolts (intake to intake, exhaust to exhaust)
