Can anyone help!

My '05 ZS120 is jumping/juddering on pulling off/heavy acceleration, suspect the maf, think i've found it on the air intake on the engine, after the throttle body(think this is the maf!), a plug in unit with a resistor type thing at the end in the casing. Having trouble sorting it out, tried cleaning/degreasing it but to no avail, is a new one the only hope! Should there be traces of oil on this unit?
any help appreciated, driving like an old woman with no acceleration available!

The ECU uses a number of inputs on acelleration:
Throttle position
Manifold
Air temperature
Coolant temp
Oxygen sensors.

First is to get a fault code check. That may give you some clues.

Check all the electrical connectors - especially the one on the ECU itself- I have come across 2 that where not locked off in position.

Take the top plastic cover off the engine and check the coils/leads. Especially the LT leads. Also may be worth taking the coils off and making sure of a good connection with the plugs.

Does it go OK when you open it up fully? If so then it could be an issue with an oxygen sensor or its wiring/connector.

Is it a problem only when hot or cold?

How many miles?

Thanks for the replies, its gradually built up to this, it began with intermittent stalls when pulling off and then a loss of engine power when cruising(last year), now its just on pull off, first and second then in higher revs in third and nearly to the floor in fourth and a bit when to the floor in fifth. it gradually gets worse when the engine is hot. Its done 17000mls, had some auto electrician to check it out, he checked plugs, leads, connectors, changed the coils and plugs anyway, worked for a while and its back in full force, every journey now is riding the clutch with high revs on pull off when it jumps or to avoid it i have to pull off like an old woman. just giving it enough to get the car moving!(some funny looks!) Also took it to a specialist place with computers n stuff and they could only come back with a minor earth fault and no fault codes, might have to stump up for a dealer to plug in, not best pleased!

I had bad juddering on pulling off on my ZS at around 10,000 miles and it turned out to be clutch judder. A new clutch under warranty at the time sorted it out perfectly. I have heard quite a few stories about this as well so I think there were definitely a bunch of faulty clutches out there.

I had a similar problem with my last 45. Checked the coils which had cracks on the rubber shafts. Replaced them which cured the problem.

jumping zs no more!!!

Just an update to my problem of jumping on pull off. It was really bad and i was passing a garage, pulled in and they had a look, he lent over running engine and srewdriver in hand, had a spark off engine block! Short on wiring! He had similar prob on zr before, so looked at wiring coming straight off ecu, same thing! Wires were being cut by a little tab on the pressed plate ecu sits on, cut numerous wires down to cores! all these wires are for the sensors/feedbacks so thats why i had crank sensor, map problems and it was worse in wet/cold due to condensation on metal! cut the tab off, insulated wires and away to go, never been seen since!!!!
