A bit confused at all the stuff I read about sport cats.

Firstly, can they be legally fitted to my 2005 TF? Secondly, will the car pass MOT emissions? And thirdly, will I need an MIL eliminator?

Thanks.

Technically it probably needs to be E marked and documented legal, but I doubt it would ever be checked unless the MoT changes to become more like some European tests.

Shouldn’t affect the MoT emissions providing that it’s working properly (may depend on the quality), will need to be hot though.

You may well need a MiL eliminator.

I have one on mine with a TT7/4. Cant comment on the legality (other than the label on the cat that said something like for race use only!). But it passed an MOT OK.

I have had a Z&F remap and Mark includes something in the remap to get round the MIL but the light did come on soon after the cat and exhaust were fitted.

You should probably advise your insurers too.

Hi Kev,

Ive just got a SS decat pipe with a threaded hole just to hold the sensor safely. I Just swap it back to the cat for the mot. Remap means the sensor is disabled. Sounds epic with my scorpion and when Beetlefan was following me through a tunnel last year, he said it was spitting flames on the over run :)

I asked the same question as you about the effectivness and legality of a sports cat on here a while ago and got a load of conflicting answers so gave up and just spent ÂŁ35 on a decat pipe and am risking the legal bit.

Hi Dave, yes, that's what Ceege has done and it sounds great. Don't fancy having to keep changing for the mot though, hence my question on emmisions. On Mike Saturs site it says that new legislation states sports cats should only be fitted to cars registered before March 2001. Flippin EU i bet!

Our ST sounds nice with the 5 cylinder engine and I guess that's why they did it as it would be one of the first complaints about the new ST if it didn't sound sporty when they went to a 4 cylinder engine.
