Can anyone tell me what the problem might be with hubby's 97 VVC??? today we went out for the day and at the start the temp gauge was normal, went to half way and was settled. he then noticed that it drop to cold after about 30 mins and it didn't really rise anymore than a mark or 2 if that, throughout the day. any idea what would cause this? all help appreciated greatly!!!!

I would go with Chris, ie it sounds more like a sensor or reading problem...

Even on the coldest of days the K-series warm up very fast, so cant see the actual temp of the engine itself being `cold`...

My sister had an identical problem on her 200, that was the thermostat (we found some idiot had removed all the internals of the stat).
