Ive just read that the 1.4 8v (74ps) k series has 117 Nm of torque....

But the 1.4 16v (84ps - restricted tb) engine only has 110 Nm.

I know more power doesnt mean more torque but i would have thought that plus 4v per cylinder would mean more torque?

Maybe im missing something - like the TB restriction effecting things.

I doubt it. If you look at all the petrol K range there quite low on the old torque front.

1.4 makes 123NM at 4500rpm,
1.6 makes 138nm at 4500rpm,
1.8 makes 160nm at 2750rpm and the 2.0 v6 makes 185nw at 4000rpm.

The 8V makes 117nm at 4200rpm.

When I was buying a new 25 in 2000 I was going for the iL version, they came as a 84PS or 103PS I chose the 84 on price.

According to Parkers:

1.4 iL (84ps) 3d Original Price ÂŁ10,640
1.4 iL (103ps) 3d Original Price ÂŁ11,440

It was only much later that people discovered the only difference was a restricted throttle body and a different cable all for the rather sumley ÂŁ800 price difference !
