Intermittent Power Steering Problem

I wonder if anyone could shed some light on a very intermittent problem I have.

When I say intermittent, this has happened twice in the past 12 months. The power steering warning light lights up and I lose power steering. I turn off the ignition, switch the engine back on and Presto, all is back to normal again.

Not much of a problem at the moment I know, but I don't want it to get worse.

Any ideas?

I had a similar thing happen on my MGF and cured it by removing the 70amp fuse under the bonnet and cleaning the terminals. Was fine after that.

Sounds like an easy 'fix'. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
if not the fuse check speedo cable... power steering shuts down if revs have been above a certain level (3000 from memory) for more than a about 10 seconds while speed = 0 (The ECU gives a proportional steering response depending on speed - biiiig turns while slow, little turns when fast). If your speedo cable is off or the ECU isnt getting accurate speed info the ecu assumes a prob and gives a power steering failure light Often happens after an MOT test when they have held car @ 3000 revs for emission test.
