Hi,

just enquiring about recommendations where to take your Rover for repair.

Main dealers always top prices for labour and parts,so most tend to look elsewhere.
Looked in yellow pages and theres was a listing in my area for Ridgeways Rover Specialists at Rotherham S Yorks.
Thinking somewhere like this would be a better place to have Rover repaired/serviced if neccessary, as they should be more familar with the problems and and costs more reasonable.
Anyone familar with Ridgeways at Rotherham or any recomendations or advice on subject.

regards

yes,

i was threatened with assault on 2 occasions, offered a courtesy car and when i went to pick it up they told me i couldn't have it, gave me a bill much higher than the estimate. took the car in with 2 faults, they gave it back to me "fixed" but the original fault was still there so the owner decided to have a go at me. 2 months later the engine developed another fault which was probably related.

Avoid at all costs from personal experience

I have to say I wasn't too happy with the service from Ridgeway, either althouth they did come recommended by my mocal friendly motorfactor. I was told my cat was rattling or collapsed and that my emissions were spot on but my lambda sensor was a bit lazy. (There was infact no cat in the exhaust at all, the emissions were lousy, and the lambda sensor was brand new).

I can recommned a bloke near nottingham if you are willing to travel a bit (I do and I'm from sheffield). He's Ex rover mechanic and now runs his own small garage dealing particularly in rovers. PM me and I'll dig out his number for you.

Now Rover no longer exist, Could we not have a sticky of recommended Rover garages for the country. I`m having a problem finding someone in the Derby area. I wasn`t impressed with the way in which Inchcape in Burton operated, it took weeks of phone calls to get an invoice, given the usual runaround and when a company is slipshod over this you start to wonder what the actual car service is like.
A sticky could be broken up into either regions or counties.

I Have Just Had My Rover 75 Rebulit By This Company And The Service Was 1st Class. To Be Fair They Are Busy And Suffer A Bit From Their Own Success They Are Very Very Busy, Which Tells You Something In Itself. I Had Excellent Service And Can Recommend Them. I Have A Rover 25 Which My Wife Drives And I Will Be Taking It To Them In The Next Month. Parking Is A Bit Of A Problem But For An Honest The Who Package Of After Sales And Other Advice Was Delivered With Courtesy And At The Right Price My Experience Was 100% Positive.

Nah, but what I dont understand is why would your 75 need to be rebuilt. Rebuilt from what?, thats the question.

I am all for compition and my customers will speak for themselfs some have come from Ridgways due to the poor service and I know another 6 who will be leaving him by the end of the year as then need to use an X-Part center to keep the warranties going and once they expire they are comming my way.

But if people are happy with his service then thats great, after all they cant all be getting bad service as he wouldnt be in business still.

I am sure some of my customers would say they have been let down, But I have always said sorry and tried to make it up in some way to make sure the customer is always right.
Oh I dont know sejin ,he's only made 3 posts 2 on here and one in the general chat section which strangely also big ups ridgeways ,I think we might have a mole !! regards ,andy ,ps hows business taking off sejin?

Seems too fishy to be true to me.

I'm local to them, all my cars are MG's or rovers, I'm pretty up on my rover stuff and I'll not take my car to them again.

Perhaps my poor experience of them was a one off but from other people on here it seems that this isn't the case.

I've got one thanks !!! just seems strange to me that all you've got to say so far is in favour of this garage ,nothing else at all ? no posts about your car ? I have never been near the garage in question and have no opinions on it one way or another and if you have nothing to do with it I apologise whole heartedly but I'd be very surprised if you didnt have some connection to the place ,I mean a lot of the mince you've come out with sounds like you're writing a brochure for them ,regards ,andy

In case anyone is wondering why posts have been removed from this thread, it was at the request of Mr Ridgway's solicitors who seemed to think that one of the posters had posted defamatory material.

At the end of the day we didn't agree that the posts were defamatory in any way, but as the original poster requested their removal, we removed the posts in question on their behalf.

I would like to remind members that they have the power to delete their own posts should they feel the need to do so.

We'd also like to ask anyone who thinks they have been libeled or subject to defamatory posts to CONTACT US first, not just set their solicitors on to us. It doesn't reflect well on them nor is it really a good way to get on with an Internet Forum. We always invite people to engage in discussion if something was posted about them in a way they don't agree with, not set their dogs onto us in a very misguided attempt to shut people up.

Were abouts in Nottingham is this mechanic? I was thinking about taking my car to have some work done at Ridgeways. So i did a quick search on here finding this thread. I trust Andburg and will no-way be going there now.

not that I'm trying to stir or anything, I'm just curious as to if there are any grounds for legal action in that sense (if not just to advise other users who have something to complain about in the future). I find it mad for a company to act so heavy handedly because someone had a bad experience of their services :dunno:

Interested myself in an indie specialising in Rover/MG in Notts/Lincolnshire.
