BBC News 24 and Sky News say MG Rover has filed for Administration and the deal is off.

Bloody hell, this is terrible. All those workers... All those jobs.

This is a dark day for the British Car Industry...

Bazzer mate, our country has just lost it's car industry. Please don't say Nissan, etc. Please don't quote small fry like Land Rover and Jaguar. Mini is'nt a proper company either... I'm depressed....

Continue trading and try and find a new owner as a going concern?

Hang on, on the news now it's saying that Rover haven't called the administrators in yet. Still not looking good though. Think they're trying to hold on to whatever they can now.

Good point by Jeff Randell - MGR have told him that they have NOT called in the adminstrator, it is the DTI saying that THEY have done so on MGR's behalf.

MGR say that the DTI does not have the right to do that to a private company.

I know as much as anybody else does. My boss phoned me at 9.55 and said that's it. I hope we are wrong but I very much doubt it.
