Had a friend do a diagnostic on airbag system and system was fine except for the offside impact sensor any ideas were it is located as iam now stumped i have been offered offside and nearside impact sensors for ÂŁ30 but dont even know what they look like and no reference in haynes manual.
The SRS system in the 100/200/400/Mini and all of the newer models derived from these models use an accelerometer in the ECU itself. As has been said if there are any external sensors then they are fitted in the sides of the car. AFAIK this is only the case with the 400/45/ZS where 75/ZT seats are fitted with the side airbags.
indeed,
the main SRS ECU is behind the hand brake under the storage bit inbetween the front seats.
