Yeah, Would of been OK but I dropped a Bourbon in the oil filler hole!

Strange I felt really fit and healthy before opening this thread, Feel bloody exhausted now I have seen it, so its no wonder that you feel tired.
Hopefully, should help you get a good nights sleep tonight then Steve, I know I'll sleep well...as soon as I can straighten my bleedin, back out :(

Sadly, I spotted this in my coolant tank during the strip down.....

Cheers mate, Doing a whole collection of stuff, get it all done in one go......thats the theory!
Subframe shot blasted and plastic coated
Cam belts
Cure an oil leak
De-rust engine bay
New brake pipes
New clutch pipes/hose
Lowering pins
Poly bushes
Compliance washers
new exhaust......
......and now looks like headgasket???????

- Please Oh Lord of all that is MG, let your divinity rain down and grant me a mere oil residue from a previous apocalyptic parting of the gasket.....amen :URGOD:

the instructions said .. "Take the spark plugs out the engine" you obviously mis read the bit about the spark plugs........

If it were mine I'd go back to bed and hide and hope the engine installation fairy came and visited me whilst I was asleep.

hope its sorted soon. I belive it s going to be ready for red devils bash on saturday.

They're the washers that take out any slack in the Tie bar bush/Lower arm joint.....allegedly!

I find it mildly astonishing, that considering all you have taken on, all you have to do, and the engine is out of the car and easily accessable, and you moan about possible HGF. I would have thought it would have been one of your priorities whilst the engine is out.

Please dont think I am having a dig, I most definately am not, I can only respect the total commitment shown.

Must admit I was a little disappointed, didnt see any seats carpets and door cards in the pile, You would have thought he would have done the interior in his spare time. Some people just cant be bothered, a quick wipe round with an oily rag, and its, that will do.

:) If you look closely Steve, you'll see that the drivers door is missing! The interior of the car is behind the camera, I've had the seats stripped and fitted heated pads, remote boot release, all the new wiring is built into the loom, new carpets etc etc.
I've only just fitted all the components back into the bonnet area - spraying brackets and repairing ABS units, new battery.......gawd, blimey!

another reason I pray it ain't HGF....I've been working on the car all over winter and my interest is starting to wane somewhat.

Thankfully I've got the motorbike so I won't miss out totally, but ya can't beat dropping the top and throwing an F/TF around a few twisties.....

I can't see the compulsory biscuit tin for all the left over bits to go in, theres always something left and when the cars running you'll look in the tin and think why the hell did MG use all these it still sounds O.K. Good Luck

#24 ·
Thanks Jimbo, :petevick:The biscuit tin proved to be too small - I've just started to put the left overs into a pile in the corner of the garage. All I need now is a N/S mirror, boot badge and a rear fog light switch and I've got a complete MGF!....odd that! :dunno:

New camshaft seals (you wouldn't believe the mess the leaky seal made - oil all over the engine, driveway and clutch plates :( )

Found the source of my coolant leak - hoooge oxidisation around the hose couplings....wire brush time

Nice de-rusted, anti-rust coated, primed and sprayed arms

Lowering pins going in :)

...and so, I carefully positioned myself behind her and with a carressing touch pushed my glistening powerhouse into her. Gradually, with hardly a single sigh of complaint she succumbed to my advances and allowed me to penetrate. Slowly, oh so slowly she lowered herself down onto my waiting mounts and in time, was fully enveloped by her soft curves................I'm a bit worried about the wet patch though!:naughty:

It's been a precarious couple of days....

Bonsoir Garcon et Filles, Have any of you lovely people fitted Gaz dampers to their MGF? If so - what did you do about the washers that go both sides of the damper?:dunno: Mine are dished and I can't make 'em fit properly.
Thanks in advance:broon:
