Because of health problems I recently decided I would have to sell my beloved TF. I advertised it and had a buyer lined up.

After a sleepless night (I even cried!) I told the buyer I couldn't do it - obviously they were not happy!

I really need an automatic so can only drive short journeys now but Dave will drive at weekends, evenings and on trips out.

This is the first time I have totally fallen in love with a car! My kids think I'm sad and the money I've spent on her is unrecoverable so why do we do it?

What is it about these cars that make us love them so much?

Glad I'm staying and looking forward to East coast run and Blackpool meet and looking forward to meeting all attending. :cloud9:

Good move MrsMecca. You have made the decision that you want, it is what life is all about, sometimes we let boring practical ideas take over, but life is too short, we must be ready to go with our heart and not with our head. Otherwise what is it all about? I impulse bought my F all the practical reasons flashed out of my brain in less than a second I saw it, it was good and sound and I could afford it and I wanted it. What else is there to consider.

You are so right!

I have been so depressed about how this illness has taken away many things I used to enjoy doing and resigned myself to driving a boring A to B car. This has made me realise I need to stop worrying about what I can't do, focus on what I can do ...and fight for what I want!!!

Thanks for your kind words.

Hi MrsMecca, Huge respect.

Could I ask in broad terms, what is the nature of your medical/health problem. If you feel able to talk of it naturally.

I ask this for two very good reasons

1 / Believe it or not, there are a couple of reasonably inteligent people on forum, who may be able knowing your problems, to suggest ways of making things easier for you. possibly by adapting your car.

2/ and far more important, Im just bloody nosy.

Steve.

Hi nosy Steve,

I have an illness that causes my muscles to cramp, spasm and then paralyse - it's mainly in my thighs and upper arms at the moment. It also affects my balance so I fall over a lot (people think I'm drunk which is quite funny at times lol!) It started suddenly in May and by June I had days when I couldn't walk without a walking stick or holding on to some one. I take seven different drugs now which add to the fatigue the condition gives me. I've had to give up work and many things I used to enjoy. What the out look is I don't know!

I must admit I do get some funny looks when I stumble up to my TF, walking stick in hand, slide (sorry, 'drop') into the drivers seat and roar off and getting out is even funnier!!

I haven't lost my sense of humour and can see the funny side at least! ;)

That's good news. These cars do have a strange hold over many of us!

I don't know if this is of any interest:

I don't know all the ins and outs, but I believe essentially it converts your existing car to an automatic. The cost may be prohibitive, but I thought it may be worth mentioning!
See LadyMecca, told you there were intelligent people on here, Thats one of them, just need to wait for the other one.

Aww hun I'm so glad you're staying! Good on you for following ya heart and not selling her! Have to admit if I was only able to drive Slave 1 up the road and back that would make me a damn sight happier than not at all!

If you ever feel up to it you're always welcome to do a trip to the south coast! We'd love to have ya down here at some point! :)

Until then, stay strong and when you can - keep TFing! :rocker:

Kara x

P.S. Don't feel bad about crying - I wailed like a baby when Slave 1 was damaged and that's nowhere near as bad a thought as losing her! I'm suprised you didn't chain yourself to your TF in protest!
