Love the car to bits but my car is with an MG specialist gettin the full works and new underfloor pipes too......

Caught it early - got it towed when i started to see mayo in the coolant tank - i cant understand why they had to cost cut - had two MG's and both had to get new HG!

Hoping when new gasket e.t.c. is all done that i can have hassle free driving!!

Guess you were lucky there to catch it before it really fouled up. nice one!.
Seems to be MGF = HGF but hey its all part of owning one I guess. At least its the devil you know and can build it into the equasion.
Checking the coolant and catching that leak or taking it easy untill it warms up properly is a small price to pay.
Better that than buying something like an X5 and then finding just out of warranty the gearbox goes at a cost of a mere ÂŁ6 grand.
People bang on about how expensive mgf/tfs are to keep on the road and I can see their point to some extent, but if you didnt spend that on hg repair I bet other cars have other things going wrong that in the long term that cost just as much to rectify.
And with the likes of ST russell about all the fuss is taken out of it on your driveway with no hassles waiting for ages to get the parts and then fitting costs.
I really can't get over how relatively little these beauties cost for the styling and pleasure they give to people.
I just smile when i see mine in the garage sitting there waiting for me to take her for a spin.
IF i had more room i would buy another just to keep it company.
Guess i must really be sad.!
hope it gets sorted in double quick time.

Bad luck - but at least it's been done now

I was thinking the same yesterday - when my boss, who drives a HUGE Jag, started winding me up about mine. I got all my receipts out last night and worked out that, not including servicing and tyres - I have spent ÂŁ590 on repairs to the car in two years - and that includes the HG a few weeks ago. I'd say that was pretty good going on a a 12 year old car with 154k on the clock. I spent three times that in 18 months on my 3 year old Peugeot with 11k.

To be honest this is my first major bill - i bought the car off my dad 8 months ago as i sold my mgzr with 110,000 miles on the clock. Its a great car and cant wait to get it back - def wanna keep it for a good few years, kinda glad it went, was gonna get the pipes done this month anyway but now just get everything done with new MLS gasket too, hoping to have a future of worry free driving.............

when breakdown runs out im going with the AA and getting the breakdown repair cover - 120 quid seems money well spent to be honest considering my existing breakdown cover is 90 quid !

lookin forward to the end of next week anyway!

yep my garage, Hell fire, no garage is allowed anywhere near my cars unless its for mot.
I trust no one at garages, every time ive ever taken a vehicle to a garage they have either bodged the job or ripped me off. so If i cant do it myself I have a couple of trusted people who can do it for me at mates rates.
