OK, I admit it, I was one of those people that were concerned when MG announced their new vans. (Yes, I know, I've heard the bit about why it isn't really a significant departure from what they did before because MG built one years ago.... but nevertheless!) Having just spent some time in the UK I realised I was wrong - I think they will go down very well.
I also spoke to an MG-R dealer in the West of Scotland who told me they were selling lots of cars - mainly ZR's with quite a few ZT's but not many ZS's.
I spent a few days in Munich as well and spent quite a bit of time looking for MG-R's. I saw 8 on the first day which was pretty good and turned out to be the high point. The first one was a 75 at the airport as I got out of the terminal building. Apart from that it was only 2/3 per day.
I went in to the local MG-R dealer to have a chat but he was busy with another guy (hopefully he ended up selling the TF he was looking at) and I had to leave for the airport before he was finished.
Can we have ZT's in North America please - I want one! (I'd like a TF too but I know there's no chance of that!

Don't know have the QVALE dealers closed down in america?

I think its the engines which are restricting many of MGR products going to america because they don't meet the emmissions.

This weeks autoexpress has a elise in there with a toyota lump in it!!! so they can be exported to america especially since the demise of the elan!!

Trying to bring a car into Canada that is not certified and is less than 15 years old is next to impossible unless you have unlimited reserves of cash and time to spend on the endeavour. Unfortunately I am not in that position so I (in common with many others on these shores) am left waiting until MG-R finally returns through normal dealer channels.
Pat, the dealer I visited was Autohaus Groebenzell, on the outskirts of Munich. Is that anywhere near you?

rje,
After I re-read your response a question occurred to me. Are you saying that a return to Canada will be made before the US? I had always assumed that they would go to the US first and we would get the cars almost as an afterthought because the Canadian market is so much smaller. That does not seem to be the implication of your e-mail.
Am I reading this correctly?

Talking about the MG Express I noticed that Citroen has a new car based van. Based on the ancient Xsara Estate. Knowing the London based press it'll be an innovative move on Citroens behalf with the MG Express being a desparate attempt to boost sales. :cus:
