I just changed my air filter...

For the first time ever... :trophy: lol.

Actually I'd been thinking the Ti felt a bit slow/lethargic for quite a while and it suddently occured to me I'd never changed the thing in the 4/5 years I've owned it. I only do about 4000 miles a year but still, with all the pollen and farm dust around here I thought it would be a good idea.

Low and behold I took the old one out and it was filthy, full of seeds, dead things, dust etc... I've attached a pic (after I shook all the dead stuff out). I'd like to say I replaced it with a K&N/Pipercross but the budget does not allow so it got a replacement paper one. Even so, quite a difference in the performance. Much zippier like it used to be and you can hear the engine breathing more effectively. 15€ and 10 mins work has made a world of difference.

:)

Nah I also think it doesn't look too bad either, well at least compared to one of mine after a year.

Well it wasn't just so much the visible dust, it was also the massive amount of dead bugs, agricultural product and other crud. As I say, it hadn't been changed in 5 years to my knowledge.

I actually got to take the Rover for a proper drive today and I can honestly say the change in filter has had a really positive effect on the cars performance. It's just so much quicker to react and accelerates more freely. Very satisfying. :)

It feels like it used to when I first bought it.
put an open cone on it, the noise will make all the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, and it will be more responsive yet

Fuel economy goes out the window! Put 1 on my Si.

I used to have one on my ti and they do make a cracking noise, you can't beat induction roar. I'm picking up a 618 today and the filter will be one of the first things to be changed.
