A V-TEC TF

Sorry guys........

I can make the engine turn over in the car but even after changing every major component on the car that the privious muppet who owned it taped onto it

The few things that were left like the drive shaft(not shafts i have already re-built one) and the exhaust - just don't fit

I've re-Plumbed the coolant, made a new loom, re-mounted it on new mounts. Adjusted the throttle cable and the gear selector mech

And I still can't get a working clutch and as far as I can tell the driveshafts will not fit anymore... That or I've lost the ability to bolt supesion together

The polybushes have split going in, and some don't fit

Powder coated parts have been unusable as a result which made that a waste of time :(

My bank account is empty and so is my reserve of Patiance and hope

If I can't think of something. Or take out a large lone. By Saturday then the engine is going on eBay

Sorry everyone, god knows I really have tried :(

Adam, what bits do you need? I have an F but I might be able to help, I have a a few polybushes I havent got round to fitting so might be able to bung a replacement or two your way (they're red with stainless inserts). Put up a list and I'm sure most people on here can scavange around and get you any TF bits you need, and if you get a hammer big enough that drive shaft will be made to fit!
Keep going matey, nearly there :broon:

Oh and good on you Jon, nice one.

Right Sir,...........take a step back and big deep breaths and don't look at the car/engine for a day or so. Chill.

Never say never. Clear your'e head. Nothing has been a waste of time, its just your'e pushing to hard a deadline.

Take Jon up on his very kind offer, and chat to him.Get a few fresh knowledgable eyes and take it from there.

You will get there.

(Got a gold MGF you two can borrow for the FRL)

Guys.... I'm not sure what to say....

Jon, if you can help mate I've got to admit I've never been in this deep trouble, I shouldn't need another part, I've spent my last on every bit I "should" need

I just can't get it together

I warn you though John, it might not go together... It's lookig more and more like it just isn't meant to fit

Mindy that's an incredible offer (of the F) but I'd be terrified of something Happening to it...

John I'll drop you a text now :)thanks guys

I don't want the last year to be a waste. I'm just drained

#22 ·
thank you broon! and...

much appreciated all, much more than any words can say!

3:15 and I've now packed in again

I think im just too tired to figure anything else out

with a fresh set of eyes I might have some hope

thanks .org!

anyone who can/wants to come by saturday for some support of the moral or physical kind is welcome at my house

I shall, at the very least feed you! lol

i'm off for some sleep in whats left of my bedroom (its covered in parts and empty boxes)

fingers crossed for more success tomorrow... I mean this morning...well later today

Adam Mate, a tight deadline only adds massive pressure, forget it. You sound drained, take a step back and have a break even if its just a couple of hours. Take Jon up on his fantastic offer, ( massive respect as always Jon ). Get as many people down as will come, even if its only for moral support and just so Iain and Iain can get in the way. You've come too far to give up now.

Oughts possible you are just seeing it all with tired eyes, your running on empty and cant think straight, it will go in, just needs a little bit of a tweek, so get a bigger sledge hammer

Your absolutly right mate... I went to sleep last night with the intention of getting up around 9 to start again... I slept until 3:30 in the afternoon... To say I was tired mate is an understatment!

Sadly the deadline isn't a choice anymore. Since the Coupe blew up I have to have a car... It needs finishing or I can't get to work (no public transport links) and I'll loose my job :(

What he said realy mate lol, it will be done, when its done, I took off the deadline for my F and its getting there slowly but surly.

FRL will be on again next year, by then you can run out all the teething porblems with the beast.

YOU CAN DO IT ! :broon:

Respect and man-hugs. :mg_chic:
Thanks Charlzey... as said mate FRL is last of my worries... keeping my job is well job 1! lol

Winners never quit

Quitters never win

If it was that easy Adam everyone would be doing it..

Chin up mate

Allan
I'm not quitting mate... how could I let you lot down!

Sounds to me adam that there is a trees/wood situation here mate.
You have worked so hard to get this project up and running. some times its just a step back and look at the evidence thats needed to get a clearer picture of whats going on.
Im sure with a little guidance, a fresh pair of eyes from that nutter Norris will put you back on track.
All credit you you Adam for your perserverence and to jon for his fantastic offer of a helping hand.
If anything needs modifying to get it sorted You and Jon are more than crazy and capable enough not only to try it but to do it as well.
Jon ( and i'm sure yourself) will not be beaten by the set backs and problems you have come across.
Dont have you down as a quitter mate in my book....
Respect....!!!!
I'm no quitter mate... funny you should mention Jon... without a mate like him I may have given up

but then I'd have to give him the title of most mental MG owner... and we can't have that can we! lol

Adam, I dont say much on your threads as half the time i havent got a clue what you're doing ;) But i read them with interest and above all Respect. As has already been said, step back, take a day off for some chill time, its taken you over and become a monster.
Forget the FRL deadline, its another pressure you dont need, we'd much rather see the car finished in May than have you give up and get rid of it in Feb.

Chin up Buddy, you'll get there.

Massive respect for all the offers of help :broon:

Steve
Thank Steve, don't tell anyone but half the time I don't have a clue myself! lol

as said about FRL is a distant thought right now... having A working car is the main thing

as jon said get a list together and i thinkk people will agrree we will have a lot in our sheds, if you need any help i think a few of us can descend
i am not far from you about 80 miles (not sure where you are) if you need a second pair of eyes to have a look (could do with stretching the mg legs a bit) also close to mike saturs if you need any specialized bits, local motor factors stocks a lot as well
drive shafts if they came out will go back in unless they were bodged in the first place
bushes ...better going for the split variety ....easier to get in

winners never quit
--------quitters never win
chin up mate you will get there even if you have to leave it and save up a bit more money
Paul D
thanks paul... I'll put a list together :)

I take it you need wheels for work if I read the thread right. Has anyone got a second vehicle Adam could use for a week or two? I would have offered him my Mondeo for a month or so but it has decided to throw a hissy fit and the engine has seized. Januaary is proving to be a bad month, Mondeo dead and 4 days and 3 operations to repair a crushed finger, I hope the year can only get better. Adam how much to hire a vehicle in your neck of the woods? I can offer a donation towards that.
Mate compared to your Jan I'm having it easy

your right though... work is the issue, 2 of my good mates have offered me use of a ZR160 for a while... mindy has offered me a F and so has sniper penguin

people like them and yourself have made one thing for dam sure... this car WILL work

sniper penguin has a car on offer...
try pm him
Paul D
he PM'd me mate, god bless you all!

**** fingers crossed for you mate ****

Like people have already said you're clearly very tired and stressed about deadlines etc, forget the FRL deadline and take you're time as I'm 99.9% certain you & Jon will figure it out and as for FRL I'm sure you could skippy with someone.
Just getting to work is the main thing mate

 Brainwave, I have a good towrope I can lend you,

Then Jon can tow you round the M25 for the FRL. Stick a couple of clothes pegs on the wheels, get your window down, head out and go broom broom, noone will know the diferrence,:broon:
lmao perfection!... the mrs may not argee tho lol

I might be able to pop down to smoggy land for a few hours on saturday to provide moral support and drink your coffee, providing the wife doesn't give me a list of stuff to do.
your very welcome my friend... see a new thread any second

I'm sure you and jon can sort it out between you mate. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Get stuck in mate. Your cars gonna be awesome.
Awsome? I'll settle for working mate :)

Sent you a text but my phone's being typically ****e.. I have holiday I need to take by the end of Feb or I loose it and I hate taking time off to just sit at home watching porn. If you can find me a place to crash I'll get myself up north... always fancied bagging a bird from Newcastle anyway. Is your Mum hot? :sofa:
lmao cheeky git... Actually I'm more insulted you think i'm a gordie than the reference to my mum! lmao

text replied to mate.. as long as my mum has no quarelles then my home is your home

Bird from newcastle, I wouldn't bother unless you fancy making regular trips to the gum clinic.
ahhhh that explains the itching :sofa:

Chin up pal, just take the help on offer and youll be smiling soon, anyway this guy didnt give up :daft:

Image
saw hat on pistonheads mate... mental! no giving up now!

Hi Adam I have no skills or parts to offer but providing you can sort the insurance you are welcome to borrow my Trophy for a few weeks up to the FRl run and if your not sorted by then you can pick me up on the way down to it so we both still get there, I could get the car to you saturday or sunday if you want to take up my offer :broon:
thats 4 offers of cars... good god, you lot are pretty special thanks guys :D

2 amazing offers :broon:

Paul, I spat coffee at your last line
funny that, my mum saw a picture of him and just spat..... :D

Pm me your address mate
on it's way

Adam.....you are certainly welcome on the FRL if not in the V-Tec but in a substitute F!!!!......running with 100 F's/TF's will def infuse you with much needed enthusiasm.

I'm certain that if it's do-able Jon and the helpers will get it sorted

But you my friend get a much needed :broon: from me :D:D:D
thanks lee :) may be arriving at FRL on a train but I'll show my face if I can... me and mrs adam had a huge weekend planned and i can't cancel that after what I've put her through the past fortnight

I'm up there Saturday after a few text last night I think I have most of whats needed already in the 4x4 .....miss the FRL nahhh running an rolling by the end of the day ...lol
Tbh mate unless the driveshafts kill is she should run and roll by the end of the day... she already fires. just runs lumpy after a smashed TF position sensor

Good man Jon
Us chavvy MG monster tuners stick together! lol

I'll see if I can get up too Adam. Ive got a grinder and a gas axe if you decide its all to much :D
noooooooo lol not my baby!
