HYUNDAI POSTS STRONG SALES IN WEAK UK MARKET

· Year-to-date sales volume up by four per cent in declining market
· April sales hold steady as overall market drops nine per cent

The strength in depth of Hyundai’s model range is powering a market-beating sales performance for the brand. With the UK motor industry facing tough trading conditions, Hyundai has emerged as one of the nation’s top performers in terms of growth in sales volume.

Newly-released figures for new car registrations in April show that Hyundai has achieved a four per cent increase so far this year, compared to the same period in 2005. That contrasts with an overall decline in the market of six per cent, with a number of manufacturers suffering double-digit percentage drops.

Hyundai’s broad – and growing – vehicle line-up, backed by an industry-leading seal of quality five year, unlimited mileage, fully transferable warranty, is finding favour with motorists who are demanding more quality, choice and peace of mind for their money.

So far this year Hyundai has sold 13,622 new vehicles, against 13,058 for January to April 2005, claiming a 1.64 market share, up from 1.48 per cent market share to April in 2005.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai Motor UK Managing Director, said: “The fact Hyundai continues to post a strong sales performances in a troubled new car market is a great estimony to the strength and potential of the brand. With further developments in our product range before the end of the year and with the full sales impact of our recently launched Amica city car and all-new Santa Fe SUV still to be realised, we are optimistic of even better results to come.”

i went to the Harewood MG Rover dealer the other day, and they have also got a hyundai and a cadillac franchise. not a fan of the cadillacs, but the new hyundais that have been released in the last two years i think are great.

the new santa fe won the group test in auto express against the Honda CRV and the Grande Vitara,. its a nice looking bit of kit.

shame that the Accent is still on sale as it lets the side down, but a new one is on its way.

lets just hope Nanjing can make that transformation with MG Rover.

I think you must mean Chevrolet, as Cadillacs are only sold through Pendragon dealerships.

With regards to the Accent, it is no longer on sale in the UK - the same goes for the Elantra. They were discontinued from the UK Price lists around a couple of months ago.

Hope this helps.

When I said Pendragon, I meant Stratstone - always get the two mixed up.

Is it in Wellington Road, Leeds?
