OK so this is wacky. Just been watching 5th gear (H S2000 has a power hood?!!) and Tiff was driving a Corvette. It has a HUD - head up display.

I was wondering whether it would be possible to build my own, using the windscreen glass as the display. Just depends on whether I can:

A) Figure out a way to get the speedo info out to some sort of LCD screen
B) Discretely mount said screen on the dash
C) Get it bright enough to shine on the windscreen the right way round
D) Safely get a reflection off the windsreen without the need to coat a section of it (I'm a laser electronics engineer by trade so could probably source a coating)

I desparately want to avoid the CD Case DIY jobs that are floating around the internet.

Anyway, just a thought - probably one that will never come to fruition...

Sound like an intresting idea, but a very big project.

P.S I have just had a look at you web site, another great resource.

I saw it to,
I have seen a modification in a lear 35 cockpit,(no I can't nick it) in Houston and it was a retrofit. I try and find out about the principle behind it. Adrian might know more about it.

Nice site on Bob
