How else can I improve the sound?

So as I said before my 115 came with the Scorpion exhaust and I plan on getting the Z&F remap later in the year. I don't want to decat as I'm not confident taking it off putting it back on for MOTs.

How else can I improve the sound? Not that I am unhappy with how it sounds currently, but I'd love a little more.

Thanks :)

Any advice on which to go for? Sorry, still new to all this so kinda need it spelling out.

Found these 2...

...not cheap!

Most I have seen on ebay say they are for the 135 or 160. I know on here someone said to me not to bother on a 115, but that was for performance, happy to get it just for improved sound if I can find a decnt one chepaer than those above.

Thanks

I have a 115 as well.

I found that the combination of a SS exhaust, performance air filter, CAI and 52MM TB has made it sound lovely.

People at meets often think I have it remapped cause it burbles of so nicely, but I dont. Yet.

ITG filter:

Expensive but worth it.

CAI is cold air intake. The air box has a 'snout' that, on my car at least, sat behind and under the air box, so I routed that through to the near-side vent so it gets lovely cold air instead of yucky warm engine air.

Made it sound a bit more throaty, it all adds to the noise.

Was thinking of de-catting but like yourself dont fancy having to swap it over come MOT time.

If it doesnt have the 52MM TB already I'd massively suggest getting one, got mine for ÂŁ30 on eBay and it really improves the throttle response, the engine feels like it can just breathe a lot more easy and is less 'chuggy' if that makes sense, a lot more smooth running when compared to 48MM.

Done :)

Are the TB and air filter an easy install?

As I have said I have very little knowledge/skill/experience when I comes to these things, but I am keen to do bits I can myself instead of paying someone else to do.

That looks like the kit to replace your existing air filter housing with a cone filter and then a tube to run it to the side intake vent.

There seems to be really mixed results about cone filters, I've read endless times they decrease power output as the TF box is just that well designed.

You could of course just get yourself some tubing and do it yourself, cost about ÂŁ15 from B&Q.

Equally the TB replacement is seriiously easy, 4 hex screws I believe to remove the TB wire thingy, then 4 bolts to remove the TB, and reverse to refit.

And the air filter is.....3 clips, maybe, MAYBE a spring clip. Just cut that piece of crap off and replace with a decent metal screw clip!

Have a search on cone filters first and make your mind up on if its worth it - I'm sure some people have experienced good results, personal preference in some ways.

I went with the ITG however cause they will outlive the car, just needs oiling up once a year or something, plus improved air flow.

I know Mike Satur does a CIA kit, not sure if its in stock however; theres plenty of how to's anyways.

I have a F VVC, so might not be comparing apples with apples. I fitted a 52mm TB (a must in my opinion, just changes the nature of the car). I also removed the entire stock filter set up and fitted an enclosed Pipercross Viper induction kit. It doesn't make a lot of noise, but it makes a nicer noise and if the air intake hose is ran to the side duct it must make for more cold air reaching throttle, thus improving breathing and mix.

The added benefit with the viper is that kids buy them to make their Clio,s and corsas sound like Ferraris and they don't , so they inevitably end up on eBay at half the store price.

Decat is easy as long as you use the long nut kit, grease the bolts and do it every year. Takes 10 minutes to put on axel stands and 15 minutes to swap over. Transforms the scorpion especially with remap.

When Mark Stacey at ZandF told me not to bother with 52mm TB for the 115 I believed him. He after all was the original engine management engineer for the TF. Hes made such a nice job of the F Type Jag since. Just listen to that on you tube.

I did exactly the same as Barneyboko (52mm TB and Pipercross) and am very happy with the results. I disagree with him about the sound. When I put my foot in it the sound coming from the intake is enough to make men in spandex pants almost fall off their bikes and makes old ladies shake their wrinkled fists at me.:tapfoot: Just the result I was after.
