Hi guys

My walnut is getting cream blobs so it's time to change it. I've bought a new walnut 3m kit for main consol and vents, does anybody know how to get the original factory one off ? I had a go yesterday and tried to heat up but short of getting a blade behind it it was stuck fast.

well you maybe right Chris- it's just what it came with as standard so didn't give any thought into doing anything other than replacing like for like - i'm older than i look by the way (here come the snipers lol) - if you were moving away from walnut would you get new vents etc with them premounted ?

It may be quicker (but not cheaper) to find new vents etc that have either not had any covering applied to them or ones already done.

However to try and get the original trim off I would be tempted to use Autoglym intensive tar remover as this is very good at braking down adhesive.

I would remove the vents and consol. I would take the centre vent out, as it will be the easiest to take out and experiment on it.

I managed to get mine off with a long blast from a hairdryer, followed by a trusty butter knive in behind it and sliding it up! Came off quite cleanly actually.

my problem is that i'm not blessed with either time or patience....

Ok - so i have a 97 VVC BRG with cream leather - what fascia would you put in if it was your car.

Andie - ok, i have a walnut complex now..clearly it HAS TO GO as it's doing my mg street cred no good at all (if there is such a thing)

Mr Scuzza....to be honest, I believe that is the only colour combo which can carry off walnut, BRG with cream leather...

And I'm not really one to talk with my grenadine /black pornstar colour combo!!!! But hey, I lurve it...as I'm sure you love your walnutty bits! ;)

On a tree! :p

Na, Andie's right, Walnut goes very well with cream leather and BRG, maybe it's the whole tree colour combination thing?
