I have taken the plunge and bought a 1998 (R)( BRG-ham) MGF VVC with cream leather and walnut steering wheel, gear knob and hard top...
This car has full service history from new..The last owner had the car for over 9 years....

The car has just turned 60,000 miles and was wondering where I can get the (timing belts) replaced in my area ie ESSEX...OR CAN ANY MEMBER HELP ME

THE CAR IS IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION THROUGH OUT...
WON OFF EBAY...

Also this car has colour coded screen..this looks original as the black is no where in sight ie under the front wings and the screen rubber...this is the only 98 model I have seen with this option...any others like this of this year

Any help from members please....

Hi,

Welcome to the forum... As a member, you are unable to post pics.. you can copy links from outside sources such as photobucket etc... or you can become a subscriber and for a princely sum of ÂŁ1 a month (ÂŁ12 for the annual membership) you can get yourself an avatar picture below your name, a signature, be able to post pics, increased number of PM's and other subscriber benefits.

Here he goes trying to scare off a newbie.

Deano forgot to mention its .23 P per week and comes with many side benefits some of which can save you much more than your subscription measly as it is. and as the forum itself will no doubt save you hundreds in advice alone never mind help.

Its cheap.

Lastly welcome to the nuthouse.

Dont bother about the pictures if its only BRG, respray it BLUE then post pics.

Give Russell a shout about your belts....

Now and just what seems to be the issue about the mileage???? You can join 'Convoy Teri' @ junc 13 M6... Sorted.. If you are really good, (you could even maybe if they are still taking bookings), stay at the same place as this rabble for the night ;)

If the service history is "FULL" and services were done by the book and to schedule the belts should have been changed last year - mileage is almost never relevent when it comes to this item on an F or TF. check the receipts to see what was done on the services - you may find that many other things are overdue...

Well I have just had a phone call from the seller
He says that the belts were both changed 13,000 miles ago approx...

Seems that when I asked him about the cam belts a few days ago he said not to his knowlege.

but he has been pondering about this question for a few days and got intouch with his garage who told him that after going through there paperwork the belts were changed as 47,000 as they recommed 50,000

So now I am going to try and get copys of the invoice,so as to add to the cars history...

well this seller I have to say, has been as honest as honest goes
brillent guy..this was his wifes car and this is why he had to double check...

thanks to all that has helped out on this

Larry,

First up welcome to the forum.

Next, There is an official MG dealership in Rayne, near Braintree (Perkins) who can do the work, but will be pricey as they are official.

Also, there is an MG specialist based in Southend, British Legends - they get a full recommendation from me. http://www.britishlegends.co.uk/about.html

Finally, the Essex Roadsters are a local MG biased car club, they meet twice monthly on the A127 (Dick Turpin & Halfway House on the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month respectively, from 7:30pm).
