:welcome: linkages are generally ****e on any rover engined 620 they wear out round the hinge pins and in worst case shear off completely , heres a duff one , note the elongation of the pin holes

the whole bracket can suffer metal fatigue as well,
the options are a rebuild kit from moto-build (about £40) or one of mgjohn (from on here ) 's modified linkages with better U-J

Squeaking ....there are 2 tensioners to suspect , the easier one is the aux belt tensioner , you dont have to change the whole thing , the pulley can be removed with a 15mm ring spanner if you can ind a decent used one to change it to ,
cam belt tensioner is as you can imagine a bit more involved , andy

If it is the linkage go the MGJohn route (if he has one), I did, and it was the best money I've spent on mine so far. Fantastic "mod" should have come as standard....

Speak to mgjohn about the cost , fitting is a case of 2 bolts , one at either end of the lnkage , removing the old one will be more troublesome as its held on with a pin thingy that has to be punched out at the gearbox end , mines has an mgjohn linkage as well anbd they are better than factory fresh .

tensioner , if its squeaking more than whining I would suspect the aux belt tensioner , remove the drivers front wheel , undo one bolt on the front bit of the arch liner and you can access it in there , take a note of the aux belt run first before popping it off or you'll be left scratching your head at the end  andy
