Sooo I've had the car for about a month now and this is now happen on saturday! So after searching for a place to do it I found Maidstone sports cars. I gave them a call and it's 950+ vat! Bloody expensive but hopefully after she's fixed shell be running better than ever.

Apparently it not a fix but a cure so it won't happen again!

He says! Well it better not I can't afford it twice lol

Details here, and the price is £320

And he's in your neck of the woods, a third of the price and highly recommended, the comment " its not a fix its a cure" seems pretty much like sales talk, ask him for a lifetime Guarantee ;)

What are the symptoms to suggest its HGF? good luck with it mate :)
As above - there is no such thing as a cure and please make sure that it really is gasket failure before proceeding - symptoms?

Parts for a good quality gasket change with water pump and cam belt come to around £150 and the job takes around 5 hours so I would not want to pay more than £400-£500 tops.
+1 for a visit from St. Russell.

Your part of the world, under £350, does a really top job, will not charge you for a head gasket repair when actually all you have is a coolant leak.

Ive had the pleasure of two visits from St. Russell and cant speak highly enough of his services.

Sorry to tell you buddy if your coolant goes low and the engine cooks IT WILL happen again and again.

Quite often HGF can be the result of another problem like coolant loss due to hose/rad/ pump failure.
950 quid!!!!! How do these people live with themselves? Thieving toe rags.

I know it's a fiddly job with the limited amount of space available but really, that is way too much to ask. Unless he is prepared to offer a lifetime guarantee as Steve suggested.

Thanks for the replys guys, but yh it's already in an luckily he is giving a lifetime warranty.

And the coolant is draining into the oil. The oil is up the top of the dipstick looking like a chocolate milkshake lol.

I would be massively worried about anyone who would offer any significant warranty let alone a lifetime one against HGF, it suggests that garage isnt that clued up on whats involved.
