Hi ppl,

Need some urgent advice.

I have noticed my car had been drinking a lot of water last couple of weeks, so I looked at the oil filler cap for sludge. I didn't find any, I looked again tonight and there is a some browny white sludge in the top of the cap. Is this definately my head??

Do you have any visible external water leaks? Check the radiator aswell....

Otherwise...it has to be going somewhere......

I have had a check does not seem to be any leaks at the moment.

The other day there was a small leak but it didnt seem to be water, I think it might have been oil.

Also if my head has gone how much as a rough guide, would it be to get it fixed.

Dealers charge anything from £450 upwards - but you should be able to get it done (if it is the HG....) for around £250-£300 tops.

It would be an idea to change the cambelt at the same time, too.

I only had the cam belt done last week so thats alrite. How long do you reckon I could drive it for?

Also why is the K-series engine so prone for blowing the HG? Especially at the time in the month when I aint got any money!!!!!!

I wouldn't advise driving it any further really - the engine won't like being driven low on water and HOT.

I expect your engine has the old style gasket, that's the problem.

No problem...just promise me one thing - don't drive it?

Got a digi cam? Take a pic of the offending muck and post it up here for me to see.....
