Help, broken Bulb Sidelight bulb holder!!

2471 Views 9 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  48365
Hi there, yesterday i was trying to fit my new LED,s to the car, by attatching them to the sidelights, i took out the bulb, put the wires into the holder and then put the bulb back in place to see if it would work, i did this on both sides.
passenger side works fine, but drivers side didnt. Know No bulbs will work in the drivers side sidelight holder. the bulb works in the passenger side.

What can i do?

Liam, are you talking rear lights or front? If its the rear then there is another connection in the driver side cluster that may have come dislodged. Without it they will not work.

Sorry, front lights i mean mate
Liam I think LEDs need a resistor ballast in the circuit. I am not up on LEDS for cars but have read about these. Regarding your bulb not working now, try a new bulb as coincidences do happen and the old bulb may have gone. Check the fuses too just in case there are separate ones for you car. I know that MGR did change circuitry in various models from time to time.

i may have to check the fuses then, maybe there are seperete ones, i have tried new ones and they dont work, do must be something else, hopefuly a fuse if they do seperate ones, will this be the fuse box in the engine bay or under the steering wheel?
Thanks
I would say steering wheel. I assume that your bulbs are the wire end connectors? Pull the wires away from the glas slightly jut in case they are not making contact properly.
I am logging off now so will check tomorrow to see how you have got on.

yep okay i will try that, thanks mate
VespaV6,

After further analysis and investigation, it turned out it wasnt the Bulb holder itself that had broken, i had blow the fuse for the drivers side lights, and then i blown the other side too not long after so i ended up with no lights at all haha.

in the end i discoverd i had blown two fuses so thats all i need, for now i have took the fuses out the elec windows and put them in place of the blown ones, atm everythin is OK! touch wood.
If you get stuck you should pop the Merseyside Meet and we will all chip in to help you, i'll bring my box of tricks to help out like I always do at the meets !!!

My speciality is soldering new resistor packs at the meet lol !!!

Plus I work in Garston and i'm available 5 nights a week if your desperate !!!
