Hi,

When a mechanic replaces the head gasket after it goes on an mgf, what exactly do they do?
Do they also replace the cambelt?

If anyone has a link or would be so kind as to explain the procedure.

Thanks

depends on the mechanic - some may simply replace the gasket -

others will have the head professionally checked - replace the gasket and fit a new cambelt.

as with most things - there is a good way and a cheap way to do something

It is a good time to change the Cam belt when the CHG is being replaced as most of the relevent bits are stripped off. My dealer changed it at the same time as the HG (under warranty) for <£50. You could ask to have this done.
