You may struggle to find any of these as Goodyear have said they were no longer making them due to some regulations regarding the materials used in their production.
It will be a case of ringing around and maybe finding a pair on the shelf of a dealer, that is how I got the pair I have on now but I have had no luck whatsoever of finding a pair of new fronts, I have bought a pair of part worn fronts which I hope will last until the rears need changing and at that time I will have to consider what alternatives are available. All the people I have spoken to say they can supply them but then find they cannot.
MG are in the process of testing alternatives in view of the none production of D2's.

 

recently needed 2 myself but all i could get anywhere in the NW was GSD3 so i got 2 of those instead

only place i could get them from where http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/ who came to work and fitted them. not a bad price either

I've considered TOYOs but I rather stick to D2s if I can.

I'm sure I read somewhere that MGR warned against GSD3s?

 

i've had both gsd2 and gsd3 over the yrs and i can honeslty say gsd3 are better than gsd2 as i've had 3 blowouts on gsd2 as they seem to crack on the inner wall very easily. just imo though

 

I am the same with D2's , I have owned four F/TF's all on Goodyears and no problems other than wearing them out, the present set did 17,000 on the rears and the fronts are on 22,000 and just about done for.
I have generated a considerable profit for BT in my efforts to find some, I have rung all over the country before finding a pair in a small local dealer on my quest to try all options by driving around and asking everywhere.
The MGF Centre have been expecting their order since August but as far as I know they are still waiting.

 

Had my car in for a quick oil and filter and check over today and found that one of my tyres has a nasty bulge in it.

Wouldn't be a problem if Goodyear GSD2s were not on back order!

There's a quite a few people with GS-D2s who have bulges, or have had sidewall bulges in their tyres, often resulting in tyre blow outs. There's a few threads on here. Is it on the inside edge of the tyre by any chance

 

It is on the inner edge yes however I think it's the original tyre and it was left standing for a while as the owner before me rarely used the car so this could have possibly led to the bulge.

 

The other cars who have had blow outs and bulges had not been sitting for a while though.....:dddc:

 

There was a very lengthy thread recently about not fitting GSD3's to our cars something to do with the new tread pattern or something. I have 2 on the front of tiny and it seems to be OK. Not sure if i want to put them on the back though until tested.

 

that was my thinking, I had been happy with the GSD2s on the rear so that's the safe bet really I don't want to take a risk and then have to wait 15000 miles wear to do anything about it.

hmm like I say not sure I really want to just take a punt. especially after re-reading that article as I too would be still running D2s on the front.

 

I had no problems sourcing my Goodyears - try the Quickfit website

 

Kwikfit only show a Pirelli tyre in the 215/40/16 size
