when i push the clutch pedal in it feels like its grating on somthing and it squeeks too.its not smooth at all when releasing the pedal.i think the cable needs greasing? could there be any other reason.

Probably just cable. Sometimes having a fiddle with it and altering where the spring sits on the cable makes a difference and can stop it catching.
