got a mg zr 03 plate and want to change the headlights to smoked angel lights and the indicators to crystal black indicators and also fit xenon bulbs.
is it hard to take the front bumper off? consodering i am a pure noob and have no experience working on cars. seen alot of bolts and looks a bit intimidating, also if i do manage to get it off how hard is it to change the lights over? any help appreciated. thanks in advance guys.

its actually really easy mate another pair of hands would help but its still easy by yourself!

locate all the bolts and keep them safe once they're off. should be about 4 along the top and 4 along the bottom and a couple each side in the arch underneath the arch lining.

your grill should be moulded into the bumper but if its a 2 part bumper take the grill off first.

also indicators can be changed with the bumper on you just need to pop a small flat head screwdriver in the side of the indicator assembly to push the "latch" to one side so the indicator can pull out. its very easy im sure you'll work it out!

also headlights are quite easy too should only be 3 bolts. the extra hands come in handy when your putting it all back on as you can get 1 person to hold the bumper/lights in position while you tighten them so you can get panel gaps just right!

forgot to mention you'll need to take your levelling motor off your oe headlights and fit it to the angel eyes!

when you have the head lights done the levelling might be a bit all over the place so i took mine to a garage and they got the levelling perfect for a few quid!

The bolts under the lining are tricky to get to (i had to do with ring spanners) so make sure you have a socket set. Just take care not to snap it either as mine was pure rust and broke off. Soak in wd40 or similar whilst you do the rest.

Other than them it is easy.

I improvised replacement with builders band - the metal strip with lots of punched holes in it - which is easily cut to the length of the rusted strap and captive bolts. With luck the holes will line up. I used roof bolts and their large thin square nuts to replace the captive bolts and hex nuts to fix onto wing & bumper, smearing grease to inhibit rusting.
