I got a freelander 1 TD4 off a chap who, after ten years of good motoring, changed the then worn out clutch which he told me is a job even with a ramp, but when he was all done and bleeding the new clutch system, there was no clutch and the fluid was pouring out of the bell housing. He could not face a second attempt. Then I took it on - fitted the same thing, clutch kit new slave, the old slave had a split in the seal. I put it all back, bled clutch and same thing happened again. I'm cheesed off. Not opened it to see if same split seal yet, has anyone had this before?

Is the clutch release lever seized? Mine was a petrol, but I used to have to squirt release oil down the arm, where it enters the bell housing, leave it to soak in and then work the arm backwards and forwards to release it. If the arm is seized, when you press the clutch peddle, you will be pressing against an immovable arm and something will give, usually one of the seals.
