Foam.

Anyone ever used sticky on foam strip on the rear of the hood?

I am after an alternative to the MG one which comes in at £30 for a short length.

I don't mind buying genuine parts, but that is just taking the pith.

Draught excluder foam strip may work.
Something like this.
A trip to the DIY store may turn something up.
That was my thought. I was just wondering if anyone had done it before, and what they used.
Never used it for the job your doing, but 3M single/double sided sticky foam tape is great. We use it at work. You should find it in the major DIY store. You can get this in various widths. Edit// Black/White

Hmmm. Or I could find somebody who uses it at work. Hmmm.
...........er......wouldn't be worth the petrol money....lol.....I'm guessing you need it yesterday,.....but if you need some,.....have the double sided stuff...
Only joking mate. :)

It's quite an open cell type foam. I'll have to keep my eyes open for some.
Ha! I have been looking at that very problem recently, as my foam is in very poor condition.
I decided to use something harder wearing than the foam and finally came up with a roll of hook and loop (velcro).
I intend to use the loop part -(1/2 inch wide) - adhesive backed - perfect!

I just need to find a use for the roll of the 'hook' side. :dunno:
I just removed it! My old F never had one either so didn't see the need for it!
Its quite a tight fit between the frame and the hood at the best of times..
Even the rivet heads being a couple of mm proud causes the frame not to sit down fully.
Dense foam such as draught excluder would probably just get dmamged the first time you try and close the frame down as its quite thick and doesnt give that easily compared to the foam used at the factory.
Brown and Gammons sell the genuine stuff by the metre, I guess the £30+ roll must be for more than a metre. I bought 3 metres which should be more than enough to redo mine when i change the rear screen http://www.ukmgparts.com/product.aspx?CID=&SID=&PID=b8d3d9b0-245a-4657-8f7e-be49dbf4ecfc

Ordered 3 meters...er....metres (they need a spellchecker me thinks).

Cheers mate.
I just ordered 2 meters, being a Yorkshireman! Well I did measure first.
