That was too close!!!

well after the incident the other day with damage, thought i would go and get anouther quote from a different garage as i went and saw the 1st one and they had forgotten to do it......

went to this next garage, (does alot of insurance work, very high standard work aswell)

showed them it, guy looked around, opened bonnet and made notes, closed bonnet and saiid will let you know in a couple of days

left, got out to the main road, got to about 45-50mph....BANG!!!

Bonnet flips up smashing windscreen shards all over me, FML

kinda what happened to BSMovies not so long ago, roofs dented where the ariel is and bonnet as you can see is ruined

was some scary ****, luckily was on a straight bit of road with no traffic

called the bodyshop i just came from, said that (according to there insurance) even tho it was them who moved the bonnet and closed it, as soon as i put the key in the ignition its my responsability?

gona ring citizens advice and see what they say

FML

f_ck, sorry to hear that man, that looks nasty. nobody these days accepts any kind of responsibility. and the law does not exactly help the average joe.
hope you get it sorted.
cheers mate, thinking that could still claim it from the woman whos car rolled into it cos it moved the latch holder bar

SJ
****, i recon you was lucky to get away with just a damaged car, that could of been ALOT worse.

Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Matt
just called insurance company, there gona come out tomorrow to have a look....i reckon its a write off

shame seeing as its such i nice car! 48,000 miles, diesel, 53 plate....:(

SJ
Exactly the same as mine.

Damage from someone hitting me, which in turn damaged the "holding" mechanism on the bonnet latch. So my Bonnet eventually came up.

Will be a write-off most likely, that's why I chose to re-build mine myself. I would personally remove the ariel, and see how much the initial roof dent pops out. As mine looked just like yours, but mainly popped out, then some further hammering and a skim of fibreglass and filler would make it perfect.
Crap mate, thats not good ! :(

Is it coming off of your insurance or the womens? (at the moment, anyway)

thanks,
Luke
jesus that could have been so much worse. its worth a try as if the bonnet catch was damaged in the initial crash than you might be lucky. they write mg/rovers off so easily these days. looked a nice example too.
its going thur hers via mine. looking at what the going rate is on them atm tho, for same milage etc

just had a talk with the owner Ross of Panel and Paint Ltd, and he said "that you should start taking responsability for my own actions and stop trying to blame people"

that ****** me off

That's some top notch customer relations right there.

Matt
In all fairness you should have check it before driving away, its a bit of a grey area imo.

New bonnet and push the dent out = win.
inspectors coming out on friday to see what they think, might just take the money and get something different, thinking golf tbh

but i would love if they were to say they can fix it!!

SJ
Might be worth getting a quote from a local garage, and then fighting them if they try to write it off.

+1

they will take one look at that and go "write off"

they will write them off for little shunts up the ass, they will looky at that and just write it off...
That's really unlucky mate, glad you're not hurt. The people at the garage sound like a bunch of monkeys.

Definite write off imo. You could buy it off them and fix it or just get rid if you're wanting.
