My F is a 1996 car, and I bought it in 2015. I had it resprayed a few years ago, I noticed that the colour inside was flat red and the external bodywork was metallic. I decided to have it resprayed Nightfire Red as I thought that was its colour but I now see that it originally it was Flame red. This means the car has been resprayed 2x. I wish now I had had it done in flat red as it would have looked better and have been more original. The paint code on the plate is COF. Maybe a previous owner had it done but it was in such poor condition I have to think it was resprayed early in its life. Do any others have this experience?

I would say that nearly 20 years from firsat registration to the point at which you acquired it is more than enough time for a car to have warranted a complete respray at some point prior to your buying it. It is not uncommon for people to change the colour of the car entirely.

Or perhaps a previous owner felt that the solid Flame Red was just a bit 'bobby basic', and decided it would look better/more upmarket in a metallic?
