Hey all,

This is more of an introduction than anything else, just wanted to say thank you to the countless guide writers and helpful people on here.. You persuaded me to buy an MG TF!

I'm 19 and was looking for a hatchback originally to get me to work/uni however when my colleague advised that I test the insurance quotes for an MG TF I was pleasantly surprised!

I bought the car last Friday evening (took me 2 hours to get to it up the M1), it is a '52 reg X-part grey 115 TF and have enjoyed every second driving it this week!

I'll post some pictures when I replace the badges next week as they're dull and faded.

I had a clio mkII before and the insurance for my own policy was £996

The insurance for this car with 0 years NCD and me being a 19 y/o male was £1032 with my mum listed as a named driver!

So I was VERY pleasantly surprised!

A Mazda MX5 was cheaper but that's also a Mazda MX5 so I opted for the TF

I suspect that the low(ish) insurance is partly due to the fact that it only has two seats. The most expensive claims come from injury so you've halved the risk there. Also, we old codgers all know that you young whippersnappers love to show off to all your mates who are drinking alcho-pops in the back seat.
