Well, after changing the IMG, Bleeding and flushing coolant system and replacing the coolant cap i think it is my HG.
Ive had an awful amount of steam coming from the exhaust over the past couple of days, along with very rough running at idle. I seemed to have to lost coolant. I have been checking the oil filler cap very frequently and today i noticed a dark pale yellow gunge like substance, not so much mayo as i was expecting. Nonetheless, i think it is the oil + water contamination! Im extremely ****** off, ive only had the car about 3 months! I dont know what to do now. I need the car all week. Massive temptation to whack some coolant stop leak stuff i seen in wilco for the week bcos i must use the car this week!! Thinks it going to be a case of getting the gasket done cheaply and getting rid of it!!!
Anyone want to buy a Rover 214?

Thats the way to go. I am pleased you have a solution. All of us on here have different depths to our pockets, and the simple solution such as throwing money at something isn't always an option for some of us.......... I should know because I think somebody's sewn up mine!!......... some of us have no drives, let alone garages.................... and a socket set does not maketh a mechanic!!

tis going round tomorrow for him to take a look and price it up! I hope he can do it for alot less!! Ummm...I presume he might know but what else needs changing if the HG is getting done. Bearing in mind ive just had a cambelt and timing belt done. I thought id solved the problem when i found the leaking rad pipe, but it would appear not! :(
