hi ,

ive just ordered a pulsar t28 turbo,
ive got a pulsar intercooler that im going to have modded so that its front mounted,
im going to set the boost to 12psi with a GBE valve,
i also have a KnN panel filter

how much bhp am i likely to make on the rolling road?

230bhp? or less?

thanks

is it a wasted spark?

if so @ 12psi i'm gonna be generous and say 208bhp and 215ft/lbs torque

people have to remember cars bhp figures are from the company.

company are liberal with the truth on many occasion with their cars.

age, mileage and many other factors can drop this original quoted figure.

fuel, plugs and exhaust also play big parts in these sort of figures.

i had a GT28R turbo on mine with similar specs to yours ( plus a decat )

and i got 225.3bhp and 233.7 ft/lbs torque @ 12.5 psi

but the GT-series turbos are a bit different to pulsar/200SX T28's

see what you get and go from there really.

heres my dyno......

i'm running a t28 hybrid with 360's ect.
stage 2 chip , full induction , de-cat with standard backbox.
standard intercooler at the mo but am gunna have a go at my cunning plan to sort that.

and mines at about 215-220 bhp.

i bumped into a guy the other day in my local town who recon'd that he was putting out 300+bhp on his :) .
when i stopped laughing in his face he offerd me a spin.
then i laughed some more .
were do people get the idea, i had a nice track day evo 1 ,
had spent a mint and it was putting out 330bhp.
it was mental , balistic missile on wheels , it ripped ya chuffing head off in 1st 2nd 3rd .
the rover is basicaly designed to be a 1.8 or 2l injection , 130bhp maybe,
they did'nt make many changes to the turbo from what i can tell,
so you have a car that was designed to be a 130 bhp family saloon , then rover had a great idea and said over a pint "hey chap's let's stick a turbo on the bugger" so made it 200bhp, so over powerd for the chassis and the brakes , gearbox and many other bits , then ya get clever people sticking on addons makeing them 230-250+ .

mines quick enough for me (front wheel drive) i wouldnt putt more than 250 out of a front wheel drive .
cheers
matt

Bhp

not being funny but
it's best to try to regain the lost bhp then use add on's .
i.e use bosch quad plug's , change ya oil to fully synthetic , make sure ya leads /dizzy are top notch thing's like that , you could regain 10bhp just sorting the car properly.
this is just my opinion .

mate, i have done;

plugs,
oil + filter 10w40 semi synthetic,
leads,
fuel cleaner,
fuel filter,
rotor arm,
dizzy car,
downpipe,
clutch,
rear discs and pads,

ive even got the parts to do head gasget, cambelt, fanbelt and manifold gasget too when i get the time to put the parts on, i havnt been wasteing my money on big wheels and exhausts just trying to get my car running its standard bhp.

i must have spent over 400 quid already excluding the turbo and FMIC

it wern't personal mate , mainly a mate of mine has a primera gt , spent a mint on full exhaust , chip , induction and loads of expensive bit's , aint botherd servicing and complains cos it's sluggish.
i found that the bosch quad plugs made a bit of difference, and cheap to on our good mate fleabay.
seemed more crisp and responsive ( but that might just be my insanity)
my origanal plan was to try to get to 300 bhp but have since realised it aint gunna happen (and if i did it would'nt be safe)
the t28 did'nt make as much difference as i had hoped either.

I was going to say 210-220. Any more and the pistons will fall apart unless you are very very lucky.

The pistons are the weakpoint on the T16. Followed closely by the small blower.
