I have just noticed that a metal strap is hanging fromthe bottom of my exhaust box. On a closer inspection and with reference to the RAVE manual, this is the exhaust stap that hanging and has corroded through.

Now the question is: Do i really need this strap? and what does it actually acheive?

Thanks for any forthcoming help.

The strap has a flange on it that bolts to the cat studs. I assume its purpose was to limit the movement betweent he cat and the silancer.
I have been running without a strap fitted for the last 4 years (3 different F/TFs) with no problems, so I would say its not that important:lol:

Sometimes strap such as this are there to aid the production process of the car more then anything else.

I would replace it, they only cost £14 through xpart. and provide support to the back box. It makes the whole system more secure in my opinion and may extend the life of the system. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the prompt replies...

I think that i will leave it as it is then, and just remove the hanging bit.

I could not see how the strap was aiding the exhaust system in anyway.

Thanks.
