Er help!!

well going to work today and on the way bang... and the battery light came on, anyway got to work but speedo cut out 2/3times with just going blank, also the cd player would not power up, so i fort right alternator... anyway opened up the bonnet and the belt was no more :(

anyway where can i get a belt from ASAP its a rover 25 1.4model cheers Jamie

you should of got a powerstteering belt aswell lol you need to release the belt tensioner on the side of the block.... (take p/S belt of first...should be on an auto tensioner....i used a spanner from underneath the car with the wheel off to pull it back and cable tied the spanner to the car holding the tensioner off as its sprung loaded quite strongly haha) then once the tensioner on the alt belt is released should be able to prise it off....i find it harder putting the belts back on than taking them iff haha

when was the car last serviced... any mention of the belts being worn??? any strange noises (squeeking/screeching)??? i would be concirned that more damage has been done to the alternator and automatic tentioner.

do u have air con cos that makes a difference as to how u change the belt.

car was serviced when the HG went about 2k ago but i have just found out that we put the old alternator belt back on the car so after buying one yesterday didnt need to also there was a small screeching that i had planned to sort out this weekend which is a bum :(
