Now, I thought of this question before recent events.

Every time I see a bumper sticker with a St George's Cross and the word "ENGLAND" it seems to be on as car of foreign manufacture.

So what's your experience?

Curiously I seem only to see these on B*W 3-series which I believe are mainly South African-made or failing that, German...um, think I may have ticked the wrong box now :banghead:....just seems odd....

the BBC mentioned "Buy British" as an old-fashioned concept in their news coverage of MGR's current situation!

NB Thanks for replying to both this thread and one I wrote by mistake, x_power boy!

I went for "European from Europe" as they mostly seem to be on Fords and Vauxhalls that their chavvy owners mostly seem to think are British!

Yes they seem to "think they are British" Simon - that's why I made this poll so complicated to allow British-made Nissans etc!

I remember Diana getting an Escort Ghia to replace her lovely Metro - that Escort was made in Saarlouis, Germany, and a lot of fuss was made there too - and around the same time Charles had a Cologne-made Granada Ghia Estate, possibly believing it to be more British than himself! (Like the British nation, the Royal family has, of course, many Germanic roots).

so I wondered - do England fans like to think they have English-(or British-)made cars?

With B*Ws, I'm sure they don't care!

PS And "chavvy" is the new name for Korean Daewoo IIRC :)

i had exactly the same thought the other day

makes me sick to see B*W's with the CofSG on them, just goes to prove how thick the GBPublic are.

saw this on a Rover 75 the other day...the first half-British or English car I'd seen it on!

if only these England fans had bought English cars! looks like most stickers are on cars where the most English thing is the numberplate!

saw peeps going mad on the St George's flag thing this weekend - standing in the car flying a full-size flag from the sunroof!

none in English-made cars though :(
