When I am accelerating and get to 18000 revs I get a tinny noise from the engine. Only at 18000 revs not before and it goes when I rev past this. Is it just a normal noise for a 75 or do I have a problem. The car has done 87000 miles.
Thanks

I guess you mean 1800 revs ;)

There is a fair chance this is either the exhaust down pipe from the manifold coming loose, or a section of exhaust further back.

Thanks Mike. Yes it is 1800 revs. I have just had a new inlet manifold fitted. Do you think its possible that the garage haven't tightened the downpipe up correctly? Or is that something completely different? I'm a bit thick when it comes to engines.

No worries. I'm a definite amateur also;) The inlet manifold is to put it at its basic where the air goes in to the engine. The exhaust manifold is where it all leaves after combustion and I am referring to the exhaust manifold. Nevertheless if they have just been working on the engine I would ask them to have a look to trace the source of the rattle as it wasn't there before.
