Hi There

Just got a large pack of Dynamat Extreme so I can do my doors, I want to try and cut out as much road noise as possible. I'm thinking about sticking it to the the back of the door card, so I'm wondering if this will do the job, or is it better to stick it to the door panel?

Cheers

or even worse... its sunny, so you get 1000quids worth of ice to put in your car, have it all layed out on the pavement, take out all the necessary car parts (door cards, boot carpet, interior trim etc) lay it all out on the pavement as well. Have a *** break and discuss with your mates about whats getting done first, then while you all go inside for a snack, and when you get outside again, the skys full of black clouds and it starts to piss down! So its all hands on deck to get the precious ice and the trims etc inside before it all gets waterlogged!!! i get loads of luck... but its all bad.

Does the weather shield need to be reinstalled? I was reading Hayne's ICE manual the other day which just says to bin it...but surely you need it? My old VW Polo flooded inside a couple of years ago cause that stuff had a hole in it.

IF you mean the stuff 'gunk' at the bottom of the doors it is not needed on later cars (they dont even come from factory with it in). However if applied correctly it may be of some use. Problem is over time the wax oyll like substance can move and cause blocking of the already small draining holes - not good when the door turns into a swimming pool. I dont bother with the stuff in doors any longer.

Mine is a 2005 ZR and when I remove the door trim there is a blue plastic sheet stuck onto the door with gunk. It's that blue plastic sheet (also referred to as vapour sheet!) I was referring to. I have to remove it to get behand to dynamat the door...but I was wondering if I need to refit it.

Thats what I intend to do, just replace the vapour guard with dynamat, so all the holes get sealed which is supposed to improve the bass from the speakers.

I see that some people stick dynamat on the inside of the outer door panel too, would this have a danger in trapping water behind it and causing the panel to rust?

Well if you have any white spirit left maybe you could add it to the cat's drinking bowl....it won't be in a hurry to jump in your car again.

You must live in a good area. If I laid out 1grands worth of ICE on my pavement it would be gone after said snack break
